The Birth of Evolutionary Panentheism, Part II: Frederic Myers

Spoken by Michael Murphy

Frederic W.H. Myers (1843-1901) was co-founder and president of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR).  In this talk Michael Murphy discusses Myers’ “Scheme of Human Faculty in its Relation to Time,” a model of how various thresholds of the separate-self emerge from the World-Soul.  Murphy discusses how this model helps explain the emergence of higher human faculties and points to practices that can reach into our extra-ordinary capacities.

Click here for a diagram of Myers' model and explanation excerpted from "The Subliminal Self," Proceedings of the SPR, Vol. II, 1895.

This recording was made at the June 13, 2012, Seekers & Sages Evening Lecture Series.
